Replicator 2X PLA Extruder fix
thingiverse
So like many individuals, I've had very little success printing PLA with the 2X. My classroom is extremely cold due to its tech lab status and the AC being on full blast most of the time. This led me to believe that cooling the print wasn't the problem. Similar to others, the 2X would easily extrude and print ABS just fine but couldn't handle PLA regardless of the brand used. When I examined the faulty extrusion, I thought the extruder wasn't gripping the PLA firmly enough. Instead of purchasing a new or an aluminum one from China, I opted for this solution first. It works surprisingly well for me. The model features both left and right sides with the left side having a slightly deeper cut for the spring. However, I haven't noticed any difference in performance. The adapter is wide enough to slide into place without popping out like it did during my initial attempts. It fits snugly, so be sure to sand it down a bit for optimal results – but I simply shoved mine in to keep it secure. I've just completed two 6-hour print jobs back-to-back with no issues whatsoever and the PLA hasn't warped once.
