Replicator 2 Top Vacuum form mold Scan
thingiverse
I got tired of using a cheap clear plastic container from Home Depot to keep dust out and heat in. So I created my own custom vacuum form mold by hand, using foam and plaster. To make this project a reality, use a massive 3D printer or slice it into parts with a utility like 123D Make. Then you can either cut it with a laser cutter or mill it with a high-tech foam CNC router before coating it in a layer of plaster. There are two versions: the scan version and the smooth version. To pull a tight seal, I recommend using a thin sheet of clear PTEG film, measuring 24 inches by 24 inches, at a thickness of either 0.03 inches or 0.06 inches. This DIY project assumes access to a large vacuum former. Next, trim the edge to match the dimensions of the top of the Rep2. After that, apply strong disk magnets onto the top for an easy on and off experience.
