This replacement spool holder is compatible with the MakerBot Replicator 2 and 2X printers, ensuring smooth filament payout and eliminating the plastic-on-plastic squeaking of the original holder. It can also be adapted for use with MatterHacker spools. To assemble, print two spool holders sideways at medium resolution with 50% infill; obtain (2) 5/16" tap bolts (4" length), (2) 5/16" wing nuts, and (2) 1" nylon spacers. Install skateboard wheels (52mm diameter) on four MakerBot filament spools for use with the holder; attach them to the rod using wing nuts. For MatterHacker spools, replace the 4" tap bolts with 6" ones and use two additional nylon spacers per spool. Optional assembly instructions without skateboard wheels are also provided for both MakerBot and MatterHacker spools.
