The initial blueprint for the standard MakerBot spool holder, designed specifically to accommodate FormFutura 1.75mm PLA reels, has been improved with added durability as of September 17, 2013. My experience suggests printing it vertically with the base on the build plate while utilizing supports (although this generates a lot of waste material). Rafting is optional and depends on your preference.
