Revamp your Replicator 1's X-axis cables with a cable chain upgrade that protects both the stepper motor and endstop cables from strain-induced damage. This DIY solution involves printing a set of cable chain mounts, including brackets for housing the cables and securing them to the machine frame. The project requires 2x M3x10 bolts, 2x 4-40x1/2" bolts, 2x 4-40 nuts, and 2 washers. Follow these steps to assemble: 1. Power down your printer, disconnect cables, and remove the stepper motor. 2. Reroute X-axis endstop and stepper motor cables through the back right corner of the bot. 3. Assemble the cable chain by feeding the wires through the printed links. 4. Attach the chain to the Y-axis, ensuring there's enough slack for smooth movement. 5. Mark and drill holes on the frame for attaching the bottom cable bracket. 6. Optional: Flex the cable chain to improve flexibility. 7. Feed endstop and stepper motor cables through the top cable bracket. 8. Attach the top cable bracket to the stepper carriage, securing with M3x10 bolts. 9. Secure the other end of the chain to the frame using 4-40x1/2" bolts and nuts. 10. Check the range of motion, add links if needed, and connect cables. 11. Enjoy your new, protected cable chain!
