Replicator 1 Adjustable Fan Duct
thingiverse
This is a custom adaptation of the Replicator Ducted Fan Clips for Print and PLA. It combines ideas from both the 40mm Fan Duct and Replicator 2X models. Specifically, this design incorporates an improved print cooler into the existing Replicator Ducted Fans Clip-on by (a) cool Print mechanism. To achieve this modification, you can modify the ducting system of the printer's original cooling fan to redirect the exhaust flow downwards instead of directly onto the printed object. This allows for a unique printing technique that leverages both the cooling properties of air and the benefits of direct heat control. With the inclusion of this improved ducted design, it becomes possible to print objects using high-temperature materials like ABS while still enjoying effective print head cooling through direct airflow manipulation. When operating your Makerbot Replicator 1 with these modifications, note that no disassembly of the system is required. Simply switch between standard and "cooling" modes by turning a selector to alternate air direction and thus avoid drafts around the printer that could ruin prints. This custom mod was created in Tinkercad - a browser-based CAD software that lets users design objects quickly online. To create your very own version of this print cooler setup, start with an STL file containing all the necessary parts. Since it consists of multiple elements that cannot be sliced from a single piece, ensure you've selected a slicer capable of splitting components according to specific requirements outlined within its documentation before getting started with assembly steps provided below:
