Replica of the First Print in Space
thingiverse
I caught wind of the groundbreaking news about the first 3D printing in space just before the holidays got underway. With a 3D printing presentation on the horizon, I decided it was high time to create a replica of the "Made In Space / NASA" test print that was put through its paces on the ISS. Unfortunately, despite giving it my best shot, I came up empty-handed in my quest to find the original STL file used for the test print - at least as of this posting date! Undeterred, I rolled up my sleeves and got creative, crafting a model based solely on this image shared with NASA's Twitter community. You'll notice that included alongside this text are both the original SketchUp file and a ready-to-print STL file, carefully scaled to mirror the actual 1:1 scale of the real thing as closely as humanly possible.
With this file you will be able to print Replica of the First Print in Space with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Replica of the First Print in Space.
