This is a "Type 6 with special arm" lamppost dating back to the early 1900s, located at the southwest corner of Washington Street and Chambers Street. Maintained by The New York Edison Company, it stood tall under elevated subway lines and awnings. A photo taken in 1981 captures its presence before being replaced in 1982.
