Replacement Watering Head

Replacement Watering Head

thingiverse

I purchased a cheap watering can with a white water spout that broke off just a few days after buying it. Several years later, my wife suggested we get rid of it, but I decided to design and print a replacement part on my 3D printer. To make the new part, I used the ISOThread.scad library from Thingiverse, modifying it slightly because I wasn't using standard threads. The settings in the file allowed me to test the thread by printing just the nut, but I also included an option to print half a nut so that I could see inside and figure out what was going wrong when the thread didn't work as expected. I recommend experimenting with different print settings because this part needs to be waterproof. Unfortunately, most of my prints leak like sieves, letting water through them easily. I printed mine with 4 shells and 40% infill, adding a few percent of over-extrusion. At first, I thought about using 100% infill. However, I still had some trouble getting the first layer to look nice, so I'm not going to reprint it. I used a height of 0.2mm with PLA plastic.
