Replacement Sunglasses arm
thingiverse
The arm of my favorite sunglasses snapped in two so I decided to create a replacement one. It's not an exact replica, but it prints quickly enough. Each pair of sunglasses has its own unique features, so this might not fit your frames perfectly. The design isn't polished, but the hinge pin location is adjustable. These glasses use a metal screw with a coarse thread as their hinge. You'll likely need to print multiple iterations to get the parameters just right for a secure fit with your shades. At the last minute, I added my name to one side. It's always fun to personalize something. I printed this part in medium mode and used supports only for the tiny hinge gap - about 3mm x 2mm in size. I oriented the arm so the hinge hole faced down and the letters were on top, allowing me to print the curved surface without support material. Up close, you can see the lines of the printer, but at normal distance, it looks pretty good!
