Replacement Plasticville Turnpike Sign
thingiverse
My O scale model train layout brings the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad between McKees Rocks and Youngstown to life. Once I completed the replacement Frosty Bar Sign, it was a breeze to make a new sign for the Plasticville Turnpike. Since my layout models the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad between McKees Rocks and Youngstown, I wanted a turnpike entrance that made perfect sense. The Pennsylvania Turnpike and its Beaver Valley Interchange are conveniently located near the P&LE track. So with the knowledge gained from creating the new Dairy Queen sign, I again used OpenSCAD to write a program for a replacement turnpike sign. First, I measured each piece of the sign carefully. Then I had to choose fonts for the letters. Again, not knowing what fonts Bachmann used, I looked for something similar. This time I browsed "Goggle Fonts". You can try Goggle that. I found a font called "Bungee" and used it for the interchange name. For the turnpike name, I stuck with "Arial". You can use the Customizer to make a new sign tailored to your layout.
