Replacement knob for Akai MPC, MPD, MPK etc
thingiverse
I'm working on an Akai MPD26 with no knobs, and I'm not happy about the prices of original replacement knobs. Most replacements come with a pointer, which isn't what I want, and those cost too much as well. Luckily, I have another MPD26 with original knobs that I can measure to create my own replacements. After trying 20 prototypes, this one should work pretty well. If your printed knobs are loose or tight, try adjusting the extrusion multiplier in your slicer or scaling them slightly in the X and Y axes. To play with the SCAD file, adjust the shaft_radius by small increments of 0.05mm at a time. On an MPD26, the push-to-enter knob bottoms on the height set by shaft_height_total, while the other encoders bottom on the height of shaft_height. Keep in mind that they interact with each other, so increasing shaft_height_total affects the effective shaft_height for the flat portion as well. Printing several at a time helps with cooling, but this part might print oddly if it's not cooled properly during printing. Try adjusting your minimum part time and similar features in your slicer if you find it prints bulgily. It should print without supports on its tip. Have fun replacing that missing knob! Print each knob a different color or make them glow in the dark.
