The Tron controller functions similarly to standard CX40 joysticks, utilizing an insert with a flexible ring that deteriorates over time. Nonetheless, widely available standard CX40 insert replacements are incompatible with the Tron controller. This replacement finally enables you to restore this cool controller to full functionality. The design is printed in two pieces to maximize strength and flexibility. The components have been positioned for optimal printing strength. The top portion should be printed on its side so that the slices run along the length of the stick, providing maximum durability. The bottom portion should be printed horizontally with supports so that the strength runs through the circular section, preventing it from breaking, but not too strong to prevent flex and damage to your PCB board. There are four holes on both pieces allowing you to use a small 1.7 x 6 micro screw in each, which provides more than enough strength to hold them together securely. Alternatively, you can use a strong adhesive if preferred (I recommend Devcon Plastic Welder Cream for 3D prints). The choice of printing material is up to you; however, I would not recommend using resin printers for this project. The resulting product may snap due to insufficient strength. FDM is the most suitable solution here, and filament selection is your decision. For optimal results, I printed with a .4 print head and .2 resolution layer height, achieving very successful outcomes.
