Replacement Frame for Ares Recon Drones

Replacement Frame for Ares Recon Drones

My son recently scored an Ares Recon FPV at an incredibly closeout price from a local hobby shop.\r\n\r\nIt took him barely three flight hours to shatter the frame.\r\n\r\nRather than spending $5.99 on a replacement, I invested several hours in crafting this makeshift solution.\r\n\r\nThere are still some clearance issues that require attention - the nacelles are still 2mm too close together front-to-back, and I plan to increase the friction fit on the nacelle bumper ends by adjusting them with rubber cement for now on my son's drone.\r\n\r\nI'm reusing as many of the original parts as possible in this iteration.\r\nThe bumpers, guards, props, even the shielding and support behind the FPV cam board are all being reused.\r\n\r\nFortunately, I was able to get it airborne. It works perfectly. These toys are truly awesome.\r\n\r\nI anticipate making further updates over the next few days here, but so far - everything is going smoothly.\r\n\r\nBy printing with PETG and tweaking my settings, I managed to create a flight-worthy frame that came in several grams under the original frame's weight.
