Replacement for a broken hair sieve at the sink stopper

My wife's cleaning attempts proved too much for the hair sieve, which ultimately failed to survive her efforts. Meanwhile, my attempt to unscrew the stopper was equally unsuccessful, as the nut refused to yield. The design now bears the scars of these mishaps, a testament to our determination and ingenuity;-) The adjustment screw, however, remains steadfast, its M5x12 (DIN 933) specifications unchanged by this ordeal.
