Replacement Dishwasher Handle for Amana

<p>I created this to replace the broken handle on my Amana dishwasher. This should work as a drop in replacement as long as you have the same dishwasher. Unplug/power off your dishwasher before replacing this.&nbsp;<br><br>1. Open the door and unscrew all of the screws around the edge of the inside of the door. This should get you access inside the door.<br>2. Pop off the switches used for checking if door is open/closed. Be careful not to break these when you remove them. The switches themselves should easily be removed from the handle area by ever so slightly pulling back the plastic keepers on them.<br>3. Remove the old plastic piece which the original handle is attached to via removing any screws and pulling it out of the door.<br>4. Remove the pins holding the handle in place and remove the small spacers on each side of the handle. (You replace these with the included ones in this print.)<br>5. Push the pins into the slots in your new handle, but not all the way. Put the printed spacers in the slots on the mechanical piece the handles connect to.<br>6. Align the new printed handle with those spacers and push the pins all the way into the spacers. This should have the spacers held in place and they shouldn't fall out.<br>7. Reassemble and turn the power back on. Ensure you're not leaking by running a rinse and ensuring the handle isn't touching the dishwasher when closed. If it is touching, you may not be closed all the way and your printer may be off slightly. If it leaks, it is likely the handle is making contact somewhere. Be sure it's not touching anything when closed.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>I printed with PLA and it seems to work well despite the temperatures inside the dishwasher getting fairly hot. There is some distance between the handle and the internal hot temperatures so you're probably fine with PLA, but PETG would likely be a better option.</p>
