I purchased a Chinese replacement fob for my car, but it needed a screw-in key blade instead of the slot in plug that I have, so after melting that one to fit, I decided to replicate the missing buttons for my fob - I much preferred the sturdiness of the original key. Leningrad1's Pug buttons were the correct shape, but the step was too high, and the actual button too low, so using his as a template, I modified both buttons to fit my reconditioned fob perfectly. I used my MakerBot Replicator 2X printer with specific settings: no rafts or supports, a resolution of 0.01 (or any really), and an infill percentage of 50%. I chose a higher in-fill because the buttons will be subjected to a lot of use over time, and I wanted them to feel more solid. I also selected four layers for top, bottom, and sides to ensure a smooth print. The result was a perfect fit first time around! To create this design, I experimented with 20% infill - it was my first attempt at printing the buttons.
