Green Gear Cycling, aka Bike Friday, is a Eugene, OR company that has been perfecting the ideal city bike for years. Their hyperfold Tikit is a built-to-order custom-frame folding bicycle that can be folded and unfolded in under three seconds - an incredibly fast process that's a testament to its design. What sets this bike apart from newer models is its ability to be built in a heavy-duty form, making it perfect for cyclists of all shapes and sizes. As the owner of one of these incredible bikes, you're probably eager to show off its quick fold/unfold feature every chance you get. However, after years of faithful service, one of the bike's parts eventually gave out - a small piece of rubber that held the stem in place when folded down. The threads on this rubber piece eventually wore out, causing it to fail. Instead of trying to recreate the original part, I decided to design something stronger and more reliable. My goal was to create a component that would distribute the force over a larger surface area, eliminating the need for threads altogether. The result is what you see here - a sturdy solution that will keep your bike together for years to come.
