My friend Alex misplaced one of his Logitech WingMan Rumble Pad's detachable analog sticks, so I decided to recreate it using OpenSCAD for my first project. This led me to write about the process on the Ponoko blog, which you can find here: http://blog.ponoko.com/2011/05/18/openscad-project-replacement-analog-sticks. The STL files I've provided will print one or two analog sticks with similar characteristics to the original. However, the SCAD source offers some customization options that you can change: HOLLOW_POST (default true), THUMB_DEPRESSION (default true), ROUNDED_EDGE (default true), and NUMBER_OF_STICKS (default 2). For printing, I achieved the best results with ReplicatorG/Skeinforge by positioning the model standing up ("T") shape with support materials underneath. Although it was difficult to clean, this method produced a better post structure compared to other orientations.
