Replace your Roller Bearings with Bronze Bushings on your CTC printer
thingiverse
You can print out 16 new half spacers or sleeves and order 8 high-quality bronze bushings from BronzeBushings at http://www.bronzebushings.com/aa-506-3-sae-841-oil-impregnated-bronze-sleeve-5-16-id-x-1-2-od-x-5-8-oal.html to replace noisy worn-out roller bearings. Update 11/9/2014: I had to adjust the spacers to fit bronze bushings from BronzeBushings. Also, you might need to ream out the diameter with a 5/16-inch drill bit to fit the rods. To do this job right, print two parts for each bronze bushing and slide both halves over the bushing to make it the same size as the roller bearing. Then replace it on your printer. To reach all 8 bearings on your x and y axis, you'll need to take apart your printer. You may also need a 5/16-inch drill bit to ream out the diameter and fit the rods. It took me 2 printers to figure this out - one set of rods didn't require any adjustments, but the other needed drilling with a 5/16-inch bit. Alternatively, you can get metric bushings, but be warned they cost three times as much. Drilling to ream out the diameter takes about 5 minutes and using a 5/16 inch drill bit. Test each bushing carefully before assembling to make sure everything fits perfectly.
