The shaft that is part of the switching mechanism broke off that allows the connection to the knob for the on off switch. Besides the part being obsolete, it was tricky to create something with a kind of wing so it would not spin. Because the shaft break was asymmetrical, I put the tip of a sodering iron on the inside of the bottom and pressed it on the help the fit. Additionally I put a dab of crazy glue to this part on the shaft. The shaft comes attached to the entire mechanical switch which if available would have been costly to replace. This part fits under the knob support and on top of the shaft attached to the switch. Works now.
