A streamlined diameter bearing supported filament spool system with a mounting bracket that perfectly fits the default mounting feature on the Replicator 2. The system is designed to fit standard Makerbot plastic filament spools seamlessly. Two shielded ball bearings support a 5/8-inch shaft, while an optional #10 x 1/2-inch sheet metal screw and 1/4 flat washer provide added stability. No drilling or hardware removal is required for easy installation, ensuring the filament roll remains in its default location with ultra-smooth unrolling capabilities. *Edit: As of 9/22/2015, the shaft's final dimension has been adjusted to better secure the spool and bearing assembly. This change eliminates the risk of the spools backing out from each other during operation.* Instructions: To assemble this innovative system, print the structural parts with 100% infill at a medium resolution using supports and bridges. For optimal results, center the axis in the Z direction for both spools. However, be prepared to invest significant effort into removing the supports. For better printing performance, create separate pieces of the shaft hanger assembly. Attach these parts through press fit after completion of printing. Sanding might be required on the fitting end of the shaft for smooth integration with the hanger. Install two steel ball bearings in recessed areas on each spool. Insert them into opposing ends of the central feature on a Makerbot filament spool, ensuring they reach their complete destination. A slight pressing force may facilitate better grip. The outer face of the assembled inner and outer spools mounts the maker bot filament roll core firmly within. With parts now securely aligned, slide both units into their corresponding positions – one towards the rear facing outwards (exposing three tabs), while keeping the opposing end snugly held against your printer. If needed to achieve optimal support or grip at the shaft's lower segment, screw down a number 10 half inch and include an extra layer consisting solely of this specific size and finish sheet metal hardware.
