Renkforce RF100 Y-Axis damage prevention clip Version 2 (experimental)
thingiverse
This is Version 2 of my Renkforce RF100 damage prevention / protection clip. Version 1 is a plug and play clip that can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2447813 You can also find detailed information about the RF100 axis problem on this website. The main issue with my first clip is that it seems to work only on printers where the axis is not bent yet. So, I designed this one which might work on bended axes as well. This version uses two M3x16 (or M3x20) screws and nuts. It's adjustable to the printer, but a bit more difficult to install. Installation: 1. Clip the top part to the printer housing next to the engine just like Version 1. 2. Use the screw insertion helper to insert the back screw with the head on top. 3. Insert the front screw with the head on top. 4. Place the bottom linear bearing part onto the screws. 5. Put one nut on each screw and turn them by hand carefully. 6. Move the Y-axis four till five times using the printer menu. If the printer makes noise, loosen the nuts a bit. Note: In the photo, the screws are inserted with the nuts on top, which was only an experimental test. Insert the screws with the nuts on bottom and head on top to avoid any damage. This item is designed to protect the Y-axis from bending but also to help straighten it out if it's bent too much. If your axis is severely bent, install this tool and print for a few hours. If it makes noise, loosen the nuts a bit. If not, try tightening them slightly. Use this item at your own risk! The photos show the previous version, but the downloadable files are the actual ones.
