The Trafic by Renault is a compact work van produced continuously since its debut in 1981, marketed simultaneously under different labels including the Fiat Talento, the Nissan NV300 and formerly as the Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro up to 2018. Between then and 2016, this vehicle was also available for purchase as the Nissan Primastar. Previous models have been retailed in Malaysia by Inokom and, notably, its initial version is currently being marketed by Tata Motors in India. As a matter of record, previous versions were sold in several markets before the current lineup came into play, specifically under a range of nameplates with varying characteristics, and some sources indicate the production site has undergone notable shifts in response to mergers. According to confirmed statements from Vauxhall officials in 2013, upcoming generation models would indeed begin production at GM Manufacturing Luton that same year. Following acquisition of Opel/Vauxhall by Groupe PSA in the lead-up to 2018, existing production contracts are due to expire and be phased out for models dependent on the earlier platform. In consequence, next-generation Vivaro will utilize new hardware in time for its release, specifically an EMP2 platform set for debut with the launch of 2019 model year units, making for considerable upgrade and shift towards this newly updated technology under Groupe PSA ownership.
