A rare Renaissance-era polychrome stove tile was unearthed in Königsberg's Rossgarten quarter during an excavation led by Baltspetsarkheologia between 2017 and 2018. The tile proudly displays a coat of arms once wielded by a powerful ruler of the Duchy of Pomerania. Its design eerily mirrors the armorial created by Lucas Cranach the Younger in 1565, now housed in the esteemed Rylands Collection at Manchester University Library. Noticeably, the original proportions of Cranach's engravings were altered to fit the larger dimensions of the tile.
