In today's world, I dislike my spouse having to abandon our infant in the automobile while she retrieves the shopping cart, so I designed a removable shopping trolley token for her. This seems effective at Australian supermarkets like Woolworths, Coles, and Big W that utilize coin-operated locks. You can download STL files, print them, and attach to your keyring; there are two sizes - one resembling a $1 coin (larger) and one a $2. To use, insert into the trolley lock; the chain will release. Rotate the token, and it slides out effortlessly. This way, you can keep your kids safe without leaving the car to return the cart. If desired, alter the design using the OpenSCAD source files provided. For further information on shopping cart theft prevention, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shopping_cart#Theft_prevention.
