Removable Left Side Window for QIDI Printer
thingiverse
This is a set of parts for a QIDI Tech 1 Printer. They essentially hold the side window in place so it can be quickly removed for better access to the print bed. I believe they would also work for equivalent MakerBot printers, but that's not verified. Feel free to modify them to suit your needs on other printers. You need to print: support-side_window-qidi_printer.stl: 2 each latch-side_window-qidi_printer.stl: 1 each The parts mount using the existing screws and nuts that hold the side window, so no additional parts are required. The Magnetic Latch mounts on the top of the Window in the center as shown in the photo. You will need to drill two 3/16” diameter holes in the Window for the screws. You need to super-glue a 1/4” diameter x 1/16” thick Neodymium magnetic into the pocket of the Latch so that the window stays in place. The Supports mount on the inside of the printer as shown in the photo. Drill a 3/16” diameter hole in the left side wall of the Printer 1” below the bottom of the side window opening. Just space the Supports apart so they keep the window level. The bottom of the support rests on the floor of the inside of the Printer, so the height is fixed. There's a notch in the top of each support that holds the bottom of the Window in place. The Magnet then holds the top in place. There’s nothing to actually keep it from moving side to side, but there’s enough friction between the parts that it doesn't move around. I just adjust it so the opening is covered. Please let me know if you have questions or suggestions. Thanks! Print Settings Printer: QIDI Tech 1 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: Standard (0.2 mm) Infill: 15% Notes: I didn't use a raft. I haven't had issues with my parts adhering to the print bed (just the opposite, mine tend to stick like they've been glued!). I printed it with ABS, but don't see any reasons why PLA wouldn't work as well. I used 3 shells.
