I really liked this basic design but wanted to be able to print it in two sections, needed to hollow out the base, and insert alignment holes for the parts. I used Blender to make these modifications. The holes are designed to accept a small piece of 1/4 inch dowel with a snug fit that may require some sanding to get a perfect match. Remember to use minimal infill, as too much will make the star top-heavy and unstable. Infill levels between 5-8% should be sufficient, and no supports are needed for this design. To print successfully, place it flat side down on your printer bed, and note that the size of the dowel holes may change if you resize the object. This design is currently sized to fit a diameter of 150mm (approximately 6 inches) across its widest point.
