Remixed Teaching Tech Ender 3 Rear Case
thingiverse
Remixed Micheal's outstanding rear case design with impressive results. Kudos to Michael for a brilliant idea, well done! I made the following modifications: 1. Rotated Pi so that HDMI and power ports are easily accessible from the rear, utilizing its built-in wireless mouse and keyboard functionality for full access to its capabilities. 2. Adjusted SKV 1.3 to enable USB access through the gap in the frame cleverly cut out by Creality, now allowing for convenient front access or elimination of unsightly cables at the rear thanks to OctoPrint flashing. 3. Installed two Buck Converters: one powers a quiet Noctura 12v fan, while the other remains as a spare unit. 4. Added twin 120v AC, 10A relays, one used for normal and emergency power control via OctoPrint, and the other kept in reserve for future use. 5. Moved the fan to the lid above the Pi due to its re-orientation, ensuring sufficient airflow through the boxes keeps the 2130's cool even during a 7-hour print at 40°C ambient temperature with no temperature events occurring. 6. Raised the front of the boxes next to the central cross member to direct air through the intended vents and thinned the sides to 1.6mm for additional cabling space, also adjusting dimensions for seamless part assembly without requiring trimming. I integrated the excellent Enclosure Plug in to OctoPrint for relay control and ws2812b led strip lighting in the X gantry, leaving ample input/output capability available. Marlin 2.0, required by SKV 1.3 addition with BLTouch, provides essential protection against abnormal conditions missing in the Ender. Following SKV 1.3 integration (with BLTouch as a crucial step), I was able to: 1. Increase print speed up to 100mm/sec. 2. Achieve improved aesthetic quality of prints without level shifting. 3. Run Stealthchop for extremely quiet stepper motors. 4. Reduce fan noise. 5. Automatically turn off mains power to the printer upon completing a print job. 6. Implement safety features in case of abnormal heater/sensor operations. 7. Utilize Marlin's Universal Bed Leveling for exceptional first layers.
