I just scored a Duplicator 2.1 from Microcenter and I'm checking out all the awesome mods available. This one caught my eye, but I've heard it produces a bad hum. I'd like to try increasing the surface area to minimize the humming noise while keeping the spring mechanism intact. We'll see how it works once I get printing this week - I'll be sure to update you then. ABS is definitely my recommended choice here; PLA can be too brittle for my taste.
