Remixed base for guardian robot
thingiverse
This is a remixed slightly taller base cover for the excellent Guardian from Zelda - Breath of the Wild model by steveut https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2391826. The base cover was customized in Tinkercad to fit a common cheap servo tester - you may need to enlarge the hole a bit for the button on the tester. This base cover redesign is designed to accommodate a custom electronics package Guardian from Zelda - Breath of the Wild printed on an Artillery X1 version 4 with custom electronics, Rotating head (uses 9 volt battery power, switch, small ESC, common cheap servo tester etc. for 3 modes of servo rotation and 10 LEDs. Tips from my build: use a cheap 5 gram servo, not a 9 gram servo (which I found to be unnecessarily big requiring a deeper base cover mod). Popsicle sticks hot glued into the body on either side of a small 5g servo work very well as a servo mount, and there is still room on either side for a 9v battery, and on the other side you can tuck in a small cheap ESC with unneeded wires removed (or a buck converter or BEC - whatever you have on hand), and a bunch of LEDS. I ran my LEDs off the 9v from the battery with appropriate resistors, rather than the 5 volts from the ESC and they are nice and bright. If you want to run this on 6 volts you could eliminate the ESC or buck convertor since it is used only to step down 9v to 5v to run the servo tester and drive the servo. I think you could alternately use a flat holder for a couple of CR2032 batteries and produce 6v directly but run time will be short - the space is too small inside this body to mount 3 AAA batteries. Mount a switch on the base to turn it off. Use a brim for the little leg pieces. This model will stand on its own because a flexible wire is run through the legs out to the claw. A thin wire also runs through the leg to a bead at the end of the claw, which allows it to be pulled back to the center of the body and wire wrapped to the larger flexible wire: viola it is not possible for the pieces of the legs to disconnect because they are wired together like a necklace! Birthday gift for my nephew Nick who is, like my son, a huge Zelda fan.
