Remix - Reinforced Diamondback Scout
thingiverse
** Updated 6/1/2019 - added pictures (finally) of my own print with my (mediocre) paint job. See my alternate build for my take on the original model.\r\n---------------\r\nI'm fed up with models being ripped from games and then left to rot without proper repairs. If you print the ship files this remix is based on, at a small scale, it should fuse together seamlessly.\r\n\r\nBut if you print it larger (like I did, scaling it up 425%), you'll end up with a lot of separate pieces (six or more) because the model originated from a video game, where connections aren't always necessary.\r\n\r\nIn this remix, I strategically placed simple cubes between disconnected objects to keep them together. I aimed for subtlety so they wouldn't visually interfere.\r\n\r\nI've included my 3MF files, allowing you to see how I added the parts, move them around, and even add your own (in this case, using Microsoft 3D Builder).\r\n\r\nMy print turned out quite robust. Now, all it needs is a bit of assembly and some seam line repairs.\r\n\r\n** Warning: be prepared for one of the wings to curl up slightly during printing - particularly the front portion of the slice. I chose not to mess with the model to fix this issue. It's a problem best addressed at print time, rather than in post-processing. So, get ready to make some body work or putty repairs. It'll be worth it.\r\n-------------\r\nI really enjoy how this model comes together when assembled. It feels slightly heavier and more sturdy than my original build - maybe that's just me being optimistic.
