I swapped out the z-rail clamp for one that uses two grub screws instead. My original reprappro mendel is starting to show its age: the different clamps are breaking apart, so I needed another design without the bending clamps. I've come up with a new x-joint that replaces the C-clamps on the bottom frame. Structural parts on the Mendel use 8mm smooth and M8 threaded rods. Updated print instructions: Tapping requires a thick wall - lots of perimeters are needed. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: ReprapPro Mendel (mono, legacy) Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 40% Notes: You need to print with at least 1 mm perimeter - like three perimeters @ 0.4mm to support the M3 thread for grub screws. Use three- to four-mm brims, if the part warps during print. See picture gallery. Finishing either objects: The two screw holes are Ø2.6mm. Use a M3 tap. Insert two M3 screws to hold the z-rail in place.
