Saw this decorative motif https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:909758 and needed to try it out on one of my undecorated 1910s combs.

To get the same shape as the model comb, this will print flat and need to be heat formed in hot water. See
https://www.instructables.com/id/Thermoforming-3D-Printed-PLA-for-Use-in-Prostethic/
(not mine, just a really nice set of basic instructions) for good, clear instructions on this method.

Like my other combs, this one needs post-print heat forming. However, due to the very flat design, there's less sanding necessary to make them wearable. With a really smooth print, none at all is necessary. I still like the finish I get with a resin coat or several coats of sprayed on clearcoat, but if you want to print, form and wear, that's possible with these.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

XYZprinting

Printer:

da Vinci mini w

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Doesn't Matter

Infill:

solid

Filament:

Ziro pla transparent red

Post-Printing

Heat formed by hand in hot water and painted.

Category: Accessories
