Remix of JimSheldon's Swinging Filament Guide
thingiverse
Heavy remix of JimSheldon's Low Friction swinging filament guide for Ender 3's with Direct Drive extruders. I really loved JimSheldon's design and wanted to make some improvements for my own individual use case. I ended up remodeling a large chunk of the guide both for aesthetics and to add in a ball bearing of this style- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XSF9148/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 as well as changed the mounting method to utilize T-nuts instead of going all the way through the frame of the printer. The last major modification was adding an optional filament sensor, which is built from the pre-existing z-axis limit switch. This filament sensor will only work if perfectly in-line with the filament path, so make sure to assemble/attach it carefully. I used gel superglue and a woodburner to melt the plastic together so it would not move. The motion is now extremely smooth due to the integrated ball bearing, which I also installed with gel superglue. I will be taking some good photos of this after a while so everyone can see exactly what is going on here/how to assemble it, just don't have the camera on me at this moment!
