I really love Suatbatu's GoPro Knuckles because they provide a ton of protection against dropping your GoPro - four finger-holes worth of protection to be exact. I thought these would be great if I could use them with Erazmataz's Gyro and UltiArjan's Counter-Balance Folding Stick. The only thing I didn't like about the knuckles is that if I ever want to bring this on a plane, I'd have to check a bag - not going to happen. Design: To remedy this, I decided to remove the palm support that makes this a potentially dangerous weapon and add another hinge. This would allow me to stick the counterbalance on the bottom hinge for extra stability, and the gyro on the end of the folding stick, which is connected to the top hinge. Pics of the whole assembly will be posted soon along with hopefully decent quality video! For the entire assembly I used #6 screws and nuts in place of the recommended M5 size - just used what I had laying around. These fit a little more snug than the M5 would since they are about 0.3mm wider, but I find that a more snug fit is ideal for this particular application. Notes on Counterweight: The hollow handle for the counter balance was just filled with whatever spare change I had laying around - there are a lot of quarters in there, and the balance is amazing; it's incredibly comfortable to hold! Notes on Gyro: Initially, I attempted an "upright" version where the center of mass for the gyro/GoPro assembly was pulled down by a low-hanging weight rigidly attached to the GoPro. Not only was this way too heavy, but I also found myself not being able to get low shots because the weight got in the way and the residual wobble from walking was actually pretty difficult to mitigate... I opted for the hanging GoPro which solved all the problems I had with the hanging weights! Yes, the GoPro is upside-down, but it's really not hard to fix in post. To secure the angular position of the goPro in the gyro center, I've designed a simple positioning nut - this nut should be sized appropriately to fit the threaded rod you choose. If you choose a threaded rod with the same threading as the mount that comes with your GoPro, you should scale the nut somewhere around 103% to 105% (I found 104% was perfect, but every machine is different).
