Remingtonocetidae is a diverse family of early aquatic mammals belonging to the order Cetacea, with a strong presence along the ancient coastline of the Tethys Ocean during the Eocene epoch in present-day Pakistan and India. The name of this family was inspired by the genus Remingtonocetus, which was named after renowned paleocetologist Remington Kellogg. These early mammals boasted long, low bodies, relatively short limbs, and an elongated rostrum, giving them a distinct resemblance to crocodiles in appearance.
