This tool enables you to work on Remington 870 and 1100 series shotguns by swaging their shell latches. To do so, either use a hardened drill rod or purchase one from Brownells; I recommend a 3/16" tip. Unfortunately, I'm unsure of the exact dimension offered by Brownells for this tool part.
