Remember me

Remember me

Since we as a family had issues to keep periodic tasks in mind, I created a simple "remember me". Or may I say a "remember us"? Every big button can represent one tasks which is simply written with edding on a short strip of slim clear tape, so it can be replaced without any residue. The housing is opaque, the buttons are translucent. How does it work? With some code I am now able to set up tasks by defining it's frequency. The minimum is 1 day, the maximum is 10 weeks. When a task needs to be done again, the light behind the buttons goes on. After completing the task you press the button so its light turns off and the cycle starts again. Straight foreward I guess. --- Partlist: - 1 pc Arduino/Genuino, any small type, i took a mini pro 5V - 3 pcs P2S IC of your choise - 21 pcs LED WS2812B - 39 pcs push buttons - 1 pc capacitor - 1 pc 330 Ohm resistor - 21 pcs 100k Ohm resistor - some (thin) wire for power and data - power connector of your choise How its build: *Note: I will add some picuture taken while creating it and some curcuits as well.* Every row gets some buttons, lights and an "parallel2serial"-IC on a slim perfboard. Under each of the "translucent label holders" are placed 2 buttons and between a WS2812B. I choose 2 buttons each label because they are very wide. I wanted it not to matter where I press to get a nice click. Of course each of the pairs are wired up parallel. I spent quite a while to be sure that the arrangment of my buttons lined up with the fixed position of the labels. The housing some millimeters taller than the buttons on the perfboard so i added some spacer that can be glued on the buttons and when it gets sticky I added glue to the upper side of them and layed it on the preassembled top with all labels up side down and let it settle. This might not be the best way to get rid of the spacing but its my way and, in addition, the 2 layers of glue takes away a lot of the dry and hard clicking sound to soften it out. So it feels more valuable.
