thingiverse
Reliquary frame of the Holy Cross, mosan workshop, circa 1220, wooden core, gilded copper exterior, repoussé, stamped, chiseled and engraved details, champlevé and mixed enamels, filigranes, cabochons, brown varnishes. Origin: Saint Servatius Church of Maastricht. On display at the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire (Musée du Cinquantenaire, Brussels, Belgium). Created with Autodesk's Remake and ReCap pro. This reliquary stands out as a symbol of the significance of the Cross cult in Mosan region during the early 13th century. The double traverse gemmée cross, housing the precious relic, dominates a vegetal background representing the Tree of Life. Inscription on the reverse side in brown varnish indicates additional relics were contained within this reliquary, those of apostles and saints highly revered in Mosan territory.
