This is a modest relief featuring an inscription that tells the story of a goddess, likely Neith or Sekhmet. In Egyptian mythology, Sekhmet, also spelled Sakhmet, Sekhet, or Sakhet among other variations, was a fierce warrior goddess and the goddess of healing. She was often depicted as a lioness, the most fearsome hunter known to the Egyptians. According to legend, her breath formed the desert sands. As the protector of pharaohs, she led them into battle. Neith, on the other hand, was an ancient Egyptian deity who was believed to be the first and prime creator. She was thought to have brought the universe into existence along with everything in it, and governed its operation.
