Relief: St George's Hall

Liverpool ships in cattle and wool to fuel its food and clothing industries (panel on the façade of St. George's Hall, Liverpool) by Conrad Dressler (1856-1940). This production stands out due to the rippling muscles of the man who has clearly just slaughtered the ox at the bottom left corner, now resting his knife strategically across his exposed buttocks. It's no wonder Liverpool is looking away, focusing instead on the woolly lamb between her and the shepherd on the right-hand side.
