Jesus, the Christ, seized by Roman authorities, was subjected to a trial and sentenced to flogging and crucifixion by Pontius Pilate. Jesus' garments were forcibly removed, and he was offered a drink mixed with gall before being led to his execution. He was then suspended between two convicted thieves, and according to Mark's Gospel, met his demise after approximately six hours. During this time, the soldiers affixed a sign to the top of the cross in three languages, proclaiming Jesus' title as "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews." The soldiers then divided his garments among themselves, but cast lots for his seamless robe. After Jesus' death, they pierced his side with a spear to verify that he had passed away. This relief is displayed at the convent of Saint Agnes, situated on the right bank of the Vltava River in Prague's Old Town area known as "Na Františku." The monastery was founded in 1231 by Agnes of Bohemia, who also served as the abbess of the convent. Agnes of Bohemia, a medieval Bohemian princess, opted for a life of charity and piety over one of luxury and comfort. Although she was venerated soon after her passing, Agnes was not declared beatified or canonized until more than 700 years later. This object is available for download with a base here.
