A choregos in ancient Greece was a respected citizen who voluntarily funded theatrical performances in the theatre. Awards were bestowed upon the choregoi deemed most outstanding. Nike embodies triumph, Apollo is the divine musician, and Leto is the mother of both him and Artemis. The statuesque poses and flowing drapery of the gods emulate the early Archaic Greek style.
