Relief: Madonna and child with angels
myminifactory
The marble relief of the Virgin and Child with angels has been cast into plaster by Agostino di Duccio's workshop. A skilled sculptor from the early Renaissance era, Agostino di Duccio (1418 – c. 1481) honed his craft in Venice, where he studied late Gothic sculpture in 1446. There, he met Matteo de' Pasti, a fellow artist who commissioned him to create the intricate carvings for the Tempio Malatestiano in Rimini between 1449 and 1457. The elaborate decorations were meant to be a comprehensive medieval guide, featuring reliefs of zodiacal and other mythological figures that told allegorical stories.
