Relief: Farmers
myminifactory
This relief is part of the Vystavka Dostizheniy Narodnogo Khozyaystva, a permanent general-purpose trade show and amusement park in Moscow, Russia. It depicts two women farmers milking a cow with skill and ease. The relief provides minimal contextual information, suggesting it was primarily created as decorative art for the amusement park. The exhibition center underwent significant reconstruction during Joseph Stalin's era. The site chosen was Moscow's northern suburb of Ostankino, where Vyacheslav Oltarzhevsky played a key role in planning a central avenue with fountains and small roads leading to a big square facing the central pavilion. A statue of Vladimir Lenin once stood at the front of the pavilion, while the central square features a large fountain called "The Friendship of People Fountain," designed to honor the people of the Soviet Union. Later additions include another fountain, "The Stone Flower Fountain," situated in front of the Ukraine Pavilion, and a little square facing the Space Pavilion, where a Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft stands as a centerpiece. The aircraft was placed there in the 1960s after the pavilion of "Agricultural Machinery" became the "Cosmos Pavilion." A large statue of Joseph Stalin stood in this square until 1948, having previously been located on the banks of the Moskva River in the city center. The northern area of the site is a shared space between the exhibition center and the nearby botanic garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences. This region features agricultural pavilions and estate pools with lush vegetation, including "Michurin's Garden" and the "Golden Spike Fountain." All the fountains in the central area are adorned with gold, while numerous statues can be found throughout the site, particularly those depicting leaders of the Soviet Union. The site also includes cinemas, café houses, theater pavilions, and a church built after the fall of the Soviet Union. In the southern area, near the central entrance, lies an amusement park featuring the Moscow-850 Ferris wheel, constructed in 2004 as part of Moscow's 850th anniversary celebrations. Additionally, the restored pavilion of the Soviet Pavilion from Expo 67 was rebuilt and renamed the "Moscow Pavilion."
