Reinhardt - Overwatch

We shall prove our mettle in glorious combat! This is an excellent statuette to have by your side during battle. Bring the hammer down on your foes and justice will triumph! Printed on Copperfill Printer Settings: FolgerTech i3 Printer Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.15mm Notes: Supports are only required for the hand and cod piece, but I originally printed this with supports throughout. This will consume a significant amount of filament, so make use of any support settings you may have. I used Simplify3D's support settings to increase support density three layers away from the part to conserve filament. Five top and bottom layers were used, along with four layers on the walls. The extra layers on the walls enhance print strength and prevent accidental sanding through the walls. Be cautious when using metal-based filaments. Heat creep can jam your extruder, so ensure you print at a sufficient speed to prevent jamming. Post-Printing: Exercise care when removing supports around the cod piece and left leg. Excessive pressure can cause each section to break off. Caution is also advised on the helmet, as the "horns" can break off as well. I began with 200-grit sandpaper and needed files to remove major print lines. I progressed to 300, 400, and then 600-grit sandpaper. The surface was polished using 1600-grit sandpaper with wet sanding. Kiwi black shoe polish was used to accent the piece. The hammer is printed in two pieces. Sanding of the hand is necessary to fit the hammer pole through Reinhardt's grip. Once the pole can slide through, then the hammer head can be glued in place. Design Process: I employed a combination of Source Film Maker, Crowbar, Maya, and manual mesh repair to create this design.
