Reinforced and Altered Taz extruder mount
thingiverse
This is essentially a modified extruder mount with duct, built from the Taz 6 prototype extruder body design and borrowing duct concepts from multiple sources. The weight increase over stock may be compensated by the potential reduction in print issues caused by nozzle harmonics at corners. Note: This reinforced and altered extruder mount only fits Hexagon Hotend models and is not suitable for Buddaschnozzle use. After successfully attaching this unit to my printer, I can confirm that it reduces some of the problematic nozzle harmonics observed earlier. New Revision: 3.1b Eliminates Small Overhang In revision 3.1b, a small overhanging piece obstructing the rear mount track on Taz Extruder Carriage V-notch has been removed. Users who printed older versions can safely rectify this issue by trimming that portion from the Reinforced and Altered Taz Extruder Mount. Print Settings: Rafts: No significant impact expected Supports: Essential Resolution: Designed for optimal performance with a 0.5mm nozzle setting Infill: A high infill of 85% or greater is strongly advised to ensure structural integrity Notes: 1. A support is required for the small duct return section, while other components can be printed without it. 2. A higher infill percentage is necessary due to concerns over heat warp and potential warping of PLA. Post-Printing Instructions: You will require the following: 1. 3 M3 heat-set inserts for main extruder mounting 2. 4 m3 heat-set inserts for Hexagon duct assembly 3. Optionally, print additional stock Taz fillament cooling duct (located at http://devel.lulzbot.com/TAZ/accessories/extrusion_fan/STL_&_g-code/) 4. Several M3 bolts of suitable length (10mm is a safe choice) 5. 3 M3 washers 6. A few small zip ties for managing cable pathways
