This prototype showcases the design possibilities for a high-performance drum system. The Stamped version features stamped magnesium side plates, which provide exceptional strength while minimizing weight. With a 200lb load on the shearing face of teeth resulting in a 1.7 Safety Factor, this design ensures reliable operation even under heavy loads. The mass is efficiently distributed, with drums weighing below 3kg. This innovative design can also be adapted for Additive manufacturing, offering flexibility and scalability. Welded construction eliminates the need for internal structures, maximizing storage space and minimizing potential build-ups. The offset design is self-regulating, ensuring consistent depth of cut and minimizing the chance of blockages or jamming. The use of single cutting edges increases available shearing force, while radiused cutting edges reduce digging in, promoting a smooth material removal process. This design features a minimum component count (6) and utilizes common manufacture methods, enabling simple and quick assembly. Additional notes highlight the benefits of oversized scoops and tunnels compared to cutting depth, reducing the risk of blockages or jamming approximately three times more than designed depth of cut.
