Reflective Teleprompter Parts

I was really surprised by the lack of easy-to-print teleprompters or teleprompter parts on Thingiverse, so I set out to create my own! I wanted the components to be as simple and universal as possible, so I used a piece of wood as the foundation for the project. The hood and camera riser can be mounted wherever needed for the specific cameras being used, and components do not have to be printed to exact dimensions. Regular wood screws hold the camera riser and hood to the rig. A standard piece of glass is affixed to the hood with fish tank-grade silicone adhesive. (see instructions below) The user can create their own brackets or holder for the tablet or phone they plan to use, but I had no issues resting the tablet on the wooden block on level surfaces. I designed this to work with Sony NEX and Alpha cameras that use E mount lenses, but it will probably work with a number of other cameras. You may need to modify the design to make it work for you. Print Settings Printer: Powerspec 3D Pro Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Doesn't Matter Infill: 50% Notes: I would imagine higher density is better, but I don't know if it really matters. There is a weak point at the bottom of the teleprompter bracket, so I would use at least 50% Instructions Hardware Wood/drywall screws (depends on size you scaled print to, default size probably needs drywall size screws) 1/4-20 bolt or knob for camera to attach to riser 1/4-20 wood insert nut, slotted/threaded (attaches block to tripod) 8x6 piece of glass (unless modifying size of design) Silicone adhesive or sealant to attach glass to hood Black paint to paint inside of hood to reduce glare (optional) Assembly Instructions Find a wood block that is long enough to fit your tablet, the hood, and camera. Lay out where the hood will attach, and make sure your tablet and camera will fit on either side of the hood. Use the included riser for the camera if needed. Paint inside of hood to reduce glare if printing in transparent or light colors Mark the holes for the hood and spacer, and drill pilot holes. Face hood upright, apply a bead of silicone to edges, install glass. Apply additional silicone to the outside of the hood to ensure the glass does not come off later. Let set for specified time. Also apply silicone or other flexible material to the top of the riser to keep camera from swiveling. While the hood is drying, turn the wood over and install the threaded wood insert nut. Test fit to tripod to ensure it will hold securely. My current design left out an easy way to install the screws in order to keep light out of the inside of the hood, so you will have to get creative in order to install the screws. I suggest a small socket with a Philips head attachment or flexible bit. You could also install the hood with a fast-drying glue of your choice. Align camera in hood, and mark position of riser. If your camera has a telescoping lens, ensure it will not protrude beyond where the glass sits. Install riser and camera using appropriate hardware. Place phone or tablet below glass and check operation. During use, be extremely careful of glass edges. Depending on the glass you use, you will probably get a double image of the text. You should not have text visible to the camera, however, in certain lighting situations it might be possible for glare from the screen to affect your image.
